A bit about me
I work in private practice and was formerly an NHS counsellor. I hold a Post-Graduate Diploma in Humanistic Counselling. I am a qualified EMDR therapist and have training in IFS/EMDR, bereavement counselling, Counselling for Depression and Emotionally Focused Couples therapy.
Everyone is different and your needs will be unique so I draw on a range of approaches to provide the right support and assistance for you. I have worked with people affected by a wide range of emotional difficulties particularly depression, anxiety, bereavement and relationships with others.
Before training as a counsellor, I worked in the media for over 20 years as a documentary filmmaker. I got to know and work with people from a wide variety of backgrounds, countries and cultures often in periods of emotional difficulty or uncertainty. It was from this experience I learned that having the time and place to share thoughts, feelings, and experiences and being heard, accepted and respected can be a valuable healing and empowering experience.
My years in the media industry also gave me first hand experience of a high pressure, demanding work environment and struggling to manage the work-life balance.
I am a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and abide by their code of ethics. www.bacp.co.uk/ethical_framework
